Fight stigma & raise awareness of Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs

You may not realise it, but your colleague, neighbour, friend or relative could be affected by a loved one’s alcohol and/ or drug use.  Why do you not know?  Stigma affects not only people with problem substance misuse, but their families too.  We often hear in our family support groups that family members haven’t shared their experiences with relatives, neighbours, friends or colleagues because they can’t handle the negative judgement that surrounds addiction.  Instead family members struggle to keep the balance of their lives outside of addiction while dedicating themselves to their loved one who needs support to beat addiction.  The demand of the balance impacts the whole family’s mental health, wellbeing, and relationships while enclosing the family in isolation.  Help break the cycle of stigma by supporting and raising awareness of Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs.

Today Scottish Families launches The Scottish Families Awkward Family Photo Calendar: Real Families, Real Moments.   Help spread the word across Scotland that there is available support for families affected by substance misuse and recognise that whether you are a colleague, neighbour, friend or relative, that families affected by substance misuse need your support too.
