Birthday Fundraisers

Birthday Fundraisers

If your birthday is coming up, you can set up a birthday fundraiser for Scottish Families on Facebook and ask people to donate as a gift.

The head or beard shave

The head or beard shave

Now that we’re indoors, why not raise some money by doing the classic head shave? Or why not shave off your beard? A lot of frontline NHS workers are being asked to shave their beards, so they can wear protective masks so why not show some solidarity and shave your beard with them?

Virtual Quiz

Virtual Quiz

If you have a bit of spare time in isolation you could write up your own quiz. Invite friends and family to join in via Skype, Zoom or House Party and ask for a small donation to play.

Do not break the chain

Do not break the chain

Pick a healthy habit (daily yoga, giving up chocolate, staying off social media) and keep it going for 30 days (or longer if you like!) Ask for sponsorship from your friends and family to encourage you to keep going!

Don’t Stop Dancing Challenge

Don’t Stop Dancing Challenge

Get yourself an awesome playlist and take on a don’t stop dancing challenge! Livestream yourself and your family as you dance for as long as you can and ask people to donate to keep you going. Amazing exercise and brilliant fun for kids too.

Gaming Marathon

Gaming Marathon

If you’re into gaming why not have a game marathon? If you’re on Twitch find Scottish Families on Tiltify and start raising money for us by playing your favourite game and asking your viewers to donate. If you have little kids, you could have a board game marathon with them and ask people to sponsor per game completed.

Film Marathon

Film Marathon

Having your own film marathon with the people in your house is a great idea to raise some money. Why not go for 90s action films? All the Police Academy films? The full extended versions of Lord of the Rings? All the Harry Potters? Give your donors updates as each film finishes and let them know how to sponsor your film-viewing fun!

Virtual Run

Virtual Run

A virtual run is an event that can be completed from any location of your choice, at your own pace and at any time you choose. Choose your distance and if you are going to run in one go or over a series of days. Keep track of your distance using a step counter or online running app. Don’t forget to take a selfie when you reach your own personal finish line!

Tips and Tricks

If you’re thinking about doing some #StayInTheHoose online fundraising for Scottish Families, you can set up a fundraising page through JustGiving. We’ve put together some tips that will help you share your fundraising goals and ultimately increase your donations and supporters.

The world of social media can be a great place, but it can get too much at times. With everything else going on right, make sure to take regular breaks and not be on social media for more than 30 minutes a day and look after your well-being.

Get your selfie game on

Upload a selfie to your fundraising page, they say that pages with photos raise more money than those without. If you’re part of a group with the people in your house, take a team shot so everyone is known!

Let us know you’re fundraising for us

Send us over an email or message us on social media to let us know you’re raising money for us so that we can personally thank you (and so we can keep in touch and hear how your fundraising is going!)

Tell people why you are fundraising

If it’s something personal to you and you want to share your story, write it on your fundraising page and tell people what it means to you. If you’d rather not share your personal story you can talk generally about the work we do supporting families in Scotland.

Make good use of social media

Right now, social media is the main driver for people keeping in touch with each other, so if you are on social media why not share your fundraising page with your followers? If you have more than one social media account, share your page on them all!

Remember to post regularly about your fundraising and tag us so that we can share your posts too!

Share your page in other ways

Text a link to your page to your friends and family and ask them to share on their social media. Share with your WhatsApp groups, email your friends and family and anyone you know, and ask your work colleagues to share your page or donate too!

Thank you, thank you, and thank you

If someone donates to you, always thank them for their support. Giving people a simple thank you lets them know the money they are donating is received well and that their support is invaluable. You could even give someone a shout out on your social media for donating!

How to get your donations to us

During this time of physical distancing donating online is the simplest, safest way to fundraise.

Make a safe, secure donation through Just Giving – click here and then click the purple donate button.

Whether you are hosting a movie marathon, braving the shave or dancing all night you will need a fundraising page to collect donations, go to https://www.justgiving.com/sfad and click the orange fundraise for us button. It is simple to set up and all donations made to your page go directly to us.

If you fancy setting up a birthday fundraiser through Facebook simply click here and follow instructions.
