WAY (Widowed & Young)

WAY is the only national charity in the UK for people aged 50 or under when their partner died. It’s a peer-to-peer support group operating with a network of volunteers who have been bereaved at a young age themselves, so they understand exactly what other members are going through.

7 Cups of Tea

7 Cups of Tea connects those in need of emotional support with compassionate and non-judgmental listeners through a secure, anonymous platform. Whether an individual is feeling stressed, confused, or just wants to get something off his or her chest, connecting with someone on 7 Cups of Tea is a great way to feel better.

Listeners are trained in Active Listening, a method of emotional support known to relieve stress. It’s free and the service is available on-demand, worldwide, around the clock.

BEAD (Bereaved through Alcohol and Drugs)

The BEAD project provides information, support and hope for anyone whose loved one has died as a result of drug or alcohol use. The site has been set up by Cruse Bereavement Care, the UK’s leading bereavement charity, and Adfam, the national voice for families affected by drugs and alcohol.

Grieftalk (Grief Encounter)

Grief Encounter supports bereaved children and their families to help alleviate the pain caused by the death of someone close. The website contains helpful support pages for families, young people, professionals and schools. Grief Talk is a free helpline from Grief Encounter providing instant, confidential advice and support for bereaved children, young people and adults – available on the phone, via online chat and email.

Petal (People Experiencing Trauma and Loss)

Petal offer services from offices in Hamilton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, however PETAL also offer  services across Scotland by online/telephone platform. Please note: Currently PETAL can offer face-to-face therapy (murder/homicide), however the majority of therapy/counseling is available by on-line platform or telephone support at this time This service provision includes children and young people (12-24 years old at this time)

Gambling with Lives

Gambling with Lives was set up by the families and friends of young people who had taken their own lives as a direct result of gambling. This service offers therapeutic mental health and bereavement support for families, couples, individuals, young people, and children affected by a gambling related suicide. This can range from peer support and telephone check ins to professional counselling.
