Scottish Families Men’s Group

Family Support Is For Men Too

Our Men’s Group is a virtual space for men to socialise, explore difficulties and find solutions together.

We wanted to create a space for men, who appear to be least likely to come forward for support, to experience peer support from others who will understand their thoughts and feelings. Our Men’s Group is here:

  • To reach men, who have traditionally not used family support services as often as women
  • To offer men a space to socialise
  • To offer men a place to explore difficulties
  • To offer men a space to explore solutions

Every meeting has a set agenda, a guest speaker and a structured plan. We have noticed that male family members engage particularly well with a problem-solving approach, collectively finding solutions to presenting issues and challenges.

Our group is run by our staff members who are always on hand to listen and offer support. At the group, you have an opportunity to talk about your personal circumstances and develop a plan with the team and other members of the group.

“When I am on here with the other guys I can say exactly what I want without worrying more about my wife’s reaction will be and the realities I have about my daughter’s future.” – Group attendee.

How to get in touch:

If you would like to join our men’s support group, you can get in touch with our team at groups@sfad.org.uk and they will let you know how to join the group and answer any questions you may have.

The meetings are held 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.

Group dates and times can be found here.
