Our Men’s Group is a virtual space for men to socialise, explore difficulties and find solutions together.

At the group, you have an opportunity to talk about your personal circumstances and develop a plan with the support of our practitioners and the other members of the group.

If you would like to join our men’s support group, you can get in touch with our team at groups@sfad.org.uk and they will let you know how to join the group and answer any questions you may have.

The meetings are held 1st Wednesday of each month online from 6.00pm - 7.30pm.

CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) is an evidence-based, non-judgemental programme for practitioners to use with family members and carers affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use.

CRAFT helps family members to:

Communicate positively with their loved one
Reduce their feelings of stress
Improve feelings of self-worth
Encourage their loved one to enter treatment

This online training is delivered by George Charlton, GC Training & Consultancy in partnership with Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs.

George is one of only two accredited trainers and supervisors delivering UK-wide CRAFT practitioner training and supervision.

The training will take place online over two days (Mondays and Tuesdays) from 9.00 am–3.30pm each day. You must attend both days to be fully CRAFT trained.

The course is £275 per person, payable by invoice.

Once fully trained, you will have the opportunity to join the CRAFT Community of Practice, a group of fully trained CRAFT practitioners for support and knowledge sharing.

We offer support to anyone in Aberdeenshire over the age of 16 who is affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. This could be a direct family member, or even a friend or a colleague who is using substances.

The group meets online over Zoom from 7.30pm - 8.30pm.

6:00 pm: Breaking the Cycle Group - Stirling

Breaking the Cycle has been formed by family members trying to cope with the effects of parental substance use. The group provides a space for people to come together and support one another with the lasting impact parental drug or alcohol use has on them. It also helps to lighten that load and provide much-needed connection when things feel difficult. Our WhatsApp group and monthly group meetings offer fantastic peer support.

This is the first of a series of Stigma seminars by Scottish Families.

At Scottish Families we regularly run a workshop call Exploring Stigma and the Power of Kindness. We now want to share our reflections of running these workshops with a new audience as well as create a forum and opportunity for you all to talk about your work and experiences.

In our first session we will be joined by guest speaker, Michelle Young, Dr of Philosophy, of ALM College Dundee and Dundee University, who will be discussing her PHD and work on Stigma with a focus on Language and Culture.

We'll also be joined by Dr Lynne Gilmour & Louise Honeybul who will discuss the The Stepping Stones Study which is an NIHR-funded qualitative longitudinal study evaluating the care pathways for women who use and/or are in treatment for drug use during the perinatal period and their babies.

Walk at your own pace, with no time limits and the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and scenic routes.
We offer a free place for any route and for any Kiltwalk event for our fundraisers – just fill in our form to request your place

The Kiltwalk is scheduled to be held in Glasgow on the 28th of April. You will have the option of taking on a 26-mile challenge, 13-mile challenge or 6.5-mile challenge on each route.
