Advocacy Support

Ceartas Advocacy provides Independent Advocacy to adults living in East Dunbartonshire.

We prioritise working with people who have particular support needs:

• Acquired Brain Injury
• Addictions; Autism Spectrum
• Additional Communication Needs
• Dementia; Learning Disability
• Mental Health
• Older people
• Physical Disability
• Sensory Impairment.

Some of the most common areas of work we are involved in are:

• Detentions and Tribunals under the Mental Health Act
• Guardianship and Adults With Incapacity
• Power of Attorney
• PIP and ESA Assessments
• Investigations and Case Conferences under the Adult Support and Protection Act
• Children’s Hearings and Children’s Panels.

Mental health support

A Bite & A Blether is a partnership project between Ceartas and East Dunbartonshire Citizen’s Advice Bureau (EDCAB) and is funded by the Scottish Government’s Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

It is a fortnightly group that offers a relaxed and informal setting where people can come together over lunch to access peer support, alongside a range of activities and information designed to enhance their mental health and wellbeing, ultimately reducing things like social isolation and loneliness.
