Fife Near Fatal Overdose (NFO) Response Team
Service Provision
The service is a rapid response for individuals who have experienced a Near Fatal Overdose (NFO). This is a multi service approach in collaboration with Fife ADP Drugs Death Co-ordinator, Scottish Ambulance Service and ADAPT NFO volunteer. This includes evening and out of hours work, including weekends.
Support offered
- Harm reduction advice and safer injecting
- Sexual health advice and referral
- Alternative prescribing including O.R.T.
- Naloxone
- BBV referral and support P.O.C rapid anti body test and referral
- Alcohol Brief Interventions and Drug Brief Interventions
- Specialist Midwifery services. Pregnant mothers using substances
- Needle exchange equipment
- Pregnancy tests
- Housing and homelessness
Discussion is also carried out with clients in relation to their:
- Mental health
- Physical health
- Family relationships
- Social environment
Support for Families
We have a dedicated family support worker who can support families concerned about their loved ones drug use and this worker is part of the NFO team.
