The families we work with may be affected by a range of issues, which could include drug and alcohol use in the family. We work with whole families as well as children on their own and will work with children from birth.
Our family workers spend time with children and parents in lots of settings, including their own homes, at our dedicated base or in other community locations.
We help by

- Offering practical help with schoolwork, homework and attending meetings at the school when necessary.
- Helping with things like establishing routines and boundaries and maintaining the family home
- Focusing on a range of issues and life skills such as healthy eating and cooking on a budget, through group work sessions
- Helping parents read to their children regularly, by building their confidence through Book Bug activities
- Encouraging engagement with community support networks such as Mother and Toddler groups
- Delivering a specialist program called Parents As First Teachers, known as PAFT. It’s designed to help parents to support their children to reach their full potential.
