Quarriers Carer Support Service (Moray)
Carers provide unpaid support to a partner, relative, neighbour or friend with an illness, frailty or disability because they are unable to manage independently. The carer support service supports both adult and young carers in Moray.
- There are no set hours.
- The person you care for may be in their own home or your house.
- The person you care for may or may not have formal support from social care or others.
- You may or may not receive Carers Allowance.
Every caring situation is different so working out what will help you is vital.
A Family Wellbeing Worker will help you access:
- a Carer Support Plan, an Adult Carer Support Plan or Young Carer Statement to identify where, and what help would be useful
- learning opportunities, to give you skills/confidence in your caring role and more awareness of your own health and wellbeing
- peer support, like the monthly Carers Café or young carer activities during school holidays, to meet other carers and make new friends
- respite, to get away from it all and recharge your batteries
- someone to talk to when you feel you can’t carry on
- professional counselling, when you need more than emotional support
- advice and information, to make caring that bit easier
- and anything else you might need to cope with your caring role.
