Families of Prisoners

Families Outside

Families Outside is the only national charity in Scotland working exclusively on behalf of families affected by imprisonment. They speak to thousands of families each year, providing information and support on issues such as housing, finance, and emotional support. Their helpline provides impartial information and support and is often the first port of call for families looking for help. If family members require more in-depth support, their Regional Family Support team is on hand throughout Scotland and can offer direct, one to one support until a positive outcome is reached.

LOOP

Do you have a loved one in a Scottish prison? Do you want to speak to people who are in a similar position to yourself?

LOOP (Scotland) is here to offer support to prisoners’ loved ones.

This group has been created because it can be difficult speaking to people about how we are feeling. We often feel that others don’t understand what we are going through. We can feel very alone.

In this group we can speak safely to our peers, the people who understand how it feels to have a loved one in prison, the people who understand the complexity of the issues we face.

In this group we have a safe and understanding environment to support each other.

This is our group, a place where we treat each other with respect and dignity.

Please always remember that what is discussed in Loop stays in Loop. Privacy and confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
