A Year With Holding On Webinar

Thursday 2nd December 2021
1.00pm – 2.00pm

Holding On is nearing its 1 year anniversary! To mark the occasion, we’re hosting a webinar where we’ll tell you the story so far with the service, and you’ll hear from our Holding On team on the support they are providing.

Holding On supports family members who are affected by someone else’s drug use. Back in July 2021, when the drug-related death statistics were published in Scotland, three family members supported by Holding On shared their stories. Their stories echo those of thousands of families across Scotland who are affected by a loved one’s drug use. They show the intensive and unrelenting pressure on families due to ongoing service gaps and failures, especially where there are complex drug and mental health problems. The stories also show how support for family members in their own right can help reduce harm and risk for everyone.

In this one-hour webinar, our CEO Justina Murray will tell you why we set up Holding On and how it started, our Holding On team members, Alison Fleming and Sarah O’Hare, will have a panel discussion and Q&A session with Senior Practitioner Gill Harmon to share family stories and practice themes. Finally, Linda Roddie from Axiom Consulting will share some of our early learning about Holding On, including some of the evaluation challenges.

We will send you the Zoom link for the webinar a few days before it starts.

“I view Holding On as a new path of enlightenment, which offers different tools to work on. It’s like breaking into new ground for me with new things to learn. I feel it gives me a feeling of fresh hope and optimism.” – Family Member
